Before I really kick off this entry, I have to admit the mishap that was the title of my Tarzan series. Son of Man refers to the song from the movie. It wasn’t until months later that I remembered that this was also a pretty significant reference within Christianity.

Oops, my bad.

I can’t say that I’m really sorry, because it helped me capture the inspiration that struck me, but I can at least recognize that it may have made for some pretty funny “whoopsie” moments. But no one came to yell at me, so I guess all is well.

The idea that I presented has proven itself to be a real powerhouse. In case you hadn’t read it, I basically said that the way to grow in something is to get yourself into the waters and to stay there. And along with that, you have to accept yourself as an amateur, a novice and a newbie. This isn’t an easy thing to do, but if you can just keep treading water, eventually you will become a master of the territory. All it takes is time.

That has helped me tremendously in my journey through life. Especially for me, as someone who loves to have everything 100% mapped out before the journey ever begins, this idea of pushing yourself out there to learn as you go has been as painful as helpful. I have had to remind myself of it quite often. A few times it has even kept me from jumping back out of the waters. I would tell myself “how else am I going to learn, but to keep going?” Then I would look back at all my progress and all the ways that I have grown, and realize that all I have to do is to keep going.

Another way to look at it is to imagine yourself as a sponge. You can’t fill a sponge with water without tossing it in the sink or under the faucet, and a dry sponge is basically useless. And the sink might seem small to you, a 5-foot-something human, but try to imagine the size of a sink compared to the size of a sponge! That’s like doing a cannonball into the 10-foot deep end. That’s a big deal!

Maybe that perspective could be helpful. Next time you feel like you’re in over your head, imagine yourself like a sponge in the kitchen sink. Maybe it seems a little deep to you, the sponge, but there’s a person up there that sees the waters you’re in as a little less deep.

So get out there and be the sponge that you were meant to be! Have the courage to get out there in the jungles of your life, charging yourself up with the confidence that you can not only survive it, but thrive in it! You can be the best ape-man ever, with the power to be strong and the wisdom to be wise. You just have to have the patience and the faith to know that all that you need will come to you in due time.

So I pray that you can find the courage to jump into the deep waters that you want to grow in. That you begin to see your fullest potential and that it fills you with spirit-freeing inspiration!

Until Next Time

May Peace be your Guide
