So sing with the bells of your bell tower! Revel in their glorious song! And know full well how to escape their dark, evil clutches!
Poetics aside, I hope this series has meant something to you, as it has meant so much to me as I have written it. It was such a joy to go on this journey with you. Honestly, I usually feel like I start to fizzle by the end of these two-weekers, but this time I felt like we really bolted through the finish line. I’m glad we got to go on this adventure together!
And I pray you learn to figure out what your bell tower is, and to escape it. But remember: escaping your bell tower isn’t abandoning it. It isn’t burning it to the ground. It’s taking control of it and putting it in its proper place. The world can be messy and a bit disappointing at times, so make sure to keep that safe space alive and well so that you can return to it when you need to. Because if you burn down your bell tower, you burn down all of Paris along with it.
And when you start to put these pieces into their proper place, you will find them taking on a sacredness. You will begin to move with purpose as you wield every tool in your arsenal with focused intent. You will know your comforts and you will begin to fight to protect them. All for the purpose of standing high in your belfry, shouting “sanctuary!”
Because we all have a life that’s worth fighting for. We all have something we’d rather die than live without. It may seem arbitrary to others. It may even feel a bit silly at times. But nothing’s sillier than giving up on the things you hold most dear. Nothing is more insulting to a life than burning down your sacred ground. So don’t do it! Don’t let the world take everything. But don’t hide in your comfort while the world burns. It won’t always be fun. It won’t always be easy, but you’ve got to get out there. Even just for a day.
I feel like I’m acting a bit goofy. Is this too poetic? Is this all making sense? If there’s any one thing that I want you to get out of this series, it’s that things come to life when we juggle the big, bad world and our own peaceful, safe place. One without the other leads to devastation, but together they create something glorious. Something more beautiful than we could have ever imagined.
So take flight, and live with purpose! And as you do, reflect on the thoughts that really jumped out at you. Which did you really like? Did anything, perhaps, nip at you just a little bit? Maybe something called you out that you needed to change. Or was there something that you felt re-affirmed in? You don’t even need to tell me about it, just reflect on it for yourself.
And take some time to sing the bells. Go out and be merry! For life’s too short to not spend it being happy. And remember: life’s not a spectator sport. If watching is all you’re going to do, then you’re going to watch your life go by without you. Don’t let that happen. Seize the day and really get lost in the heat of the moment!
Oh, and if you haven’t seen this movie by now what are you doing?!? Get your butt on the couch for the experience of a lifetime!
Alright, rant’s over. Have a great night.
And until next time
May Peace be your Guide.
